SA Express News: There are now around 113,900 oil industry jobs in Texas. Turnover is higher than usual.
The 10-year average for monthly turnover is 12,100 workers leaving their positions voluntarily. In the second quarter, the oil industry job turnover was approximately 25% higher than normal.
Across the U.S. in the first six months of the year, the oil industry created more than 20,200 new positions in the U.S., up from 12,600 jobs during the same period in 2013,
Production jobs are a hot area for hiring.
SA Express News: The University of Texas at San Antonio has studied the economic potential of the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas and the Cline Shale in West Texas. Now it’s looking at the Eagle Ford across the border. Thomas Tunstall, research director of the UTSA Institute for Economic Development, said the group plans to start a study of the Burgos Basin in Mexico.
