The Texas Railroad Commission reported Tuesday oil production in June reached 2.16 million barrels a day, up from 2.14 million the previous month and 29 percent from a year ago.
And the shale drilling boom in the Eagle Ford and Permian Basin formations does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. The commission, which regulates the oil and gas industry in Texas, issued 2,419 drilling permits in July, an 11 percent increase from last month.
Five of the top ten oil producing counties were in the Eagle Ford, and four of those led state-wide production by county for the month:
Karnes – 204,500 b/d
La Salle – 155,283 b/d
De Witt – 140,323 b/d
Gonzales – 110,598 b/d
