Texas’ Shale Gale
In 2013, Texas produced 29 percent of the nation’s marketed natural gas and 34 percent of its oil.
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a byproduct of natural gas purification and oil refining, is riding the wave of Texas’ shale gale.
Because LPG is used worldwide for heating, cooking and vehicle fuel and as a feedstock for the petrochemical industry, it’s an increasingly significant export for our state: LPG exports from Texas rose 86 percent in 2013 alone.
