The City of Pearsall
Sewer Line Breakage
May 23, 2016
The City of Pearsall is notifying the public that a new sewer line breakage has released sewer water into the storm drains. The current break is in the vicinity of the previous break. TCEQ was notified immediately upon recognition of the problem. The line has been dug up and crews are working to find the broken section. The storm drainage along FM 1581 has been blocked and fenced, and warning signs are in place. Pump trucks are in route to begin the cleanup. At this time there is not reason to believe that drinking water sources would ever be affected by this situation.
The Council will meet in emergency session to discuss an immediate resolution to this current issue. The aging infrastructure within the City of Pearsall is a primary concern for the Mayor, Council and City Staff.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
